Emigrants spoke English poorly; therefore, representatives of different humanitarian organisations on Ellis Island were giving them various aids to improve their communication skills on their arrival and their first steps in America. Among them was the brochure Slovensko-angleški razgovori (Slovene-English conversations), adapted by Viktor J. Kubelka in New York in 1912. |
